BUYING & SELLING DOGS
Give your dog into good hands – We are looking for dogs suitable for service work
Are you looking to sell your dog and wish for a meaningful and caring new home for him?
Then you are exactly right with us.
Here you can find out which dogs we are looking for, how the process works, and why you can confidently entrust your dog to us.
Which Dogs Are We Looking For?
We are seeking dogs that, due to their natural drives and character, are suitable for service work.
The following traits are especially important to us:
-
Strong Play Drive:
Your dog should be highly motivated to work with balls, bite pillows, or other objects.
-
Stable Nerves and Calm Behavior:
Your dog should explore new environments with curiosity and composure, without showing fear or stress behaviors.
-
Openness Toward New People:
A suitable dog quickly becomes approachable, friendly, and easy to handle.
-
High Resilience:
Even when faced with unfamiliar situations, your dog should remain calm and reliably perform tasks.
-
Enjoyment of Tasks:
Your dog should be eager to discover new challenges and engage actively.
-
Health:
Good physical health is essential.
All dogs undergo a thorough health check with us.
What Tasks Will Our Dogs Perform Later?
Our dogs are trained for various service areas:
-
Detection Work:
Specially trained dogs that locate explosives, drugs, or missing persons.
Here, strong play drive is the top priority.
-
Protection and Detection Work:
Dogs that can also perform protective duties.
However, protection training primarily serves to assess the dog’s nerve stability.
Prior experience in protection work is not mandatory.
Which Breeds Are We Primarily Seeking?
We primarily purchase the following breeds:
-
German Shepherd
-
Malinois (Belgian Shepherd)
-
Dutch Shepherd
-
Labrador Retriever
-
Flatcoated Retriever
-
German Shorthaired Pointer
-
German Longhaired Pointer
-
German Hunting Terrier
-
Suitable crossbreeds of these lines
Crossbreeds are welcome, provided they meet the required characteristics.
Important Information About Veterinary Examinations
To ensure that your dog is medically fit for service, we always carry out a veterinary examination, including X-rays.
This examination is conducted by our experienced contract veterinarian, who specializes in the specific requirements for service dogs and knows exactly what to look for.
High-quality X-ray images are especially important, as they must be perfectly aligned for an accurate evaluation.
Important Note:
If you already have recent X-rays (no older than 4 weeks) of very good quality, you are welcome to send them to us for review.
If the images meet the necessary standards, a new examination will not be required.
Age Requirements for Dogs
To properly assess a dog’s suitability, the dog should:
-
be at least 10 months old (to ensure sufficient physical development),
-
and not older than 3 years (to allow for a long service career).
These are general guidelines – individual assessments are possible in specific cases.
Our Facilities – Quality over Quantity
Our facility is designed to handle even larger projects for authorities and international organizations.
Therefore, we have more capacity than is typically occupied during everyday operations.
In regular practice, we consciously care for only a small number of dogs:
Usually, between 10 and 20 dogs are housed with us at any one time.
This setup allows us to:
-
Provide individual care for each dog,
-
Ensure sufficient exercise and mental stimulation,
-
Create a stress-free, relaxed environment.
The full capacity of the facility is only used when larger orders — for example from authorities or military units — are fulfilled.
How to Contact Us
We strongly prefer personal contact by phone, as it allows us to respond to your questions quickly and accurately.
You can call us at any time — even on Saturdays or Sundays.
In a short conversation, we can quickly assess whether your dog might be a good fit for our program.
Emails are also welcome, especially if you would like to send us documents (e.g., X-rays) in advance.
If you are interested in offering your dog or have any questions,
I look forward to your call.
